Overview

Thoughtful Simplicity

"True climate action begins in the classroom and thrives in nature."
Our state is incredibly diverse, stretching from vibrant coastal lines to lush forest reserves and bustling urban centres. But with this diverse beauty comes a shared responsibility. From shifting monsoon patterns affecting our farmers to rising temperatures in our cities, climate change isn't a problem for the future, it is happening right here, right now.
That is why we are investing in you. By educating our students and empowering our teachers, we aren't just teaching science; we are building a climate-resilient future. Every quiz answered, every camp attended, and every classroom inspired brings our state one step closer to becoming a leader in green action and sustainability.

Our Mission

Climate Education for a Greener Tamil Nadu.

The Government of Tamil Nadu is deeply concerned about the future of its students and their well-being in a changing climate, which is why it regularly implements various climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies and projects in schools from expanding the Green Schools Scheme with solar installations, cool roofs, rainwater harvesting, and gardens to establishing eco-clubs in all schools and launching specialized environmental awareness camps.
The Climate Education Initiative, a groundbreaking, one-of-a-kind programme launched by the Government of Tamil Nadu and announced by the Hon’ble Minister of Finance and Environment during the Budget Session, is strategically designed to empower them as true guardians of the environment.
Together, the components of this programme turn climate education into a vibrant, people-powered movement mobilising students, teachers, and entire communities to protect natural resources, reduce carbon footprints, and build unbreakable climate resilience.
Tamil Nadu is leading the way, lighting the path for a greener, more hopeful India. The future is in the hands of our youth, and with this bold initiative, they are ready to seize it. Let us stand with them, for today’s ambassadors are tomorrow’s saviours!
